Painting our 'waka'

Today we made a 'waka' out of cardboard, and we painted it lots of different colours. This is to show our over-arching theme of  'He waka eke noa'  - which means we are all in this together, no one left behind, and all paddling in the same direction.  Waka is the māori word for canoe / boat .  Our waka will hang on our classroom wall. The children loved making it their own, by each painting a part of it.

  1. Kia Ora Ruma rua, I love this project and how it fits it with your theme for this term! What were some of the tools students used to paint? How long did this take to create? It is so cool! Keep up the great work!

  2. Malo Room 2,
I really like your colorful waka, it's amazing! I like that you each got to paint a part of the waka your own way and paint something that represents you. I see you all working together nicely as a team. Great effort, Room 2!
